Introduction to the course, overview of biochemistry and bio-molecules, basics of organic chemistry and chemical structure, Gene cloning and manipulation, Nucleic acid structure, protein-nucleic acid interactions and transcription, Post transcriptional control of gene expression, Protein structure, function and evolution, Enzyme catalysis and protein Engineering, Control of metabolism, Energy transduction in bacteria, mitochondria and chloroplasts, Transmembrane signaling; molecules and mechanisms, Control of eukaryotic cell growth, introduction to immunology, Oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes and cancer.
