Medical Imaging Informatics

Aim: 
The course covers the principles of imaging informatics, modern strategies of image processing, spatial normalization, statistical parametric mapping, non-parametric image statistics. Though many examples in this course will apply to medical images, the presented strategies are general, apply to a wide range of other medical imaging modalities, such as CT, SPECT and PET, and also cover strategies of image fusion. Moreover, the course aims to cover the dealing with the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
Course contents: 
Introduction to medical image informatics, medical imaging modalities, medical image processing (Enhancement and Filtering), Physics of Ultrasound Imaging, Ultrasound Image Formation, X-Ray Imaging Equipment, Physics of MRI Imaging, Enhancement of MRI Images, Introduction to PACS, communication Principles, Medical image Registration and Fusion.
