Congratulations Ahmad Mohamed Sebaq, NU's Research Assistant

Ahmad Mohamed Sebaq is a Nile University research assistant who won 3rd place in the GMES and Africa Incubation Challenge 2021 with his oil spillage detection system in satellite imagery using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. His work will help environmental and marine conservation efforts in Africa.


The GMES and Africa Incubation Challenge 2021 competition targets teams or individuals with a keen interest in building sustainable environmental solutions using artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and big data that could impact marine and coastal spaces.
The challenge is open to citizens of any African country or anyone residing in any African country and aims to develop innovation in the maritime and coastal domain as well as build partnerships with startups and enthusiasts.
