Dr. Mohamed Mysara

Dr. Mohamed Mysara is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the School of Information Technology and Computer Science, Nile University, Egypt. He serves as Director of the Biomedical Informatics undergraduate program, Director of the Bioinformatics Professional Diploma, Director of the Computational Drug Discovery & Development Professional Diploma (C3D), and Head of the Bioinformatics Research Group.
After completing his B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Cairo University, Dr. Mysara pursued advanced studies in bioinformatics, earning an M.Sc. in Information Technology from the University of Nottingham, where he received the Best Dissertation Award. He subsequently conducted research in genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics as a junior researcher at the Egyptian National Research Centre and Nile University.
Dr. Mysara was awarded a joint Ph.D. between KU Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel under the mentorship of Prof. Jeroen Raes. His doctoral research focused on the development and application of computational tools for high-throughput metagenomics data analysis. Following his Ph.D., he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Lab of Medical Microbiology, University of Antwerp.
He later joined the interdisciplinary bioscience group at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN) as a senior scientist and research project leader. In 2022, he returned to Egypt to join Nile University, where he continues to advance bioinformatics research, education, and academic program development.
Dr. Mysara has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and currently holds an h-index of 25.
